Oct 27, 2026

CALGARY – October 27, 2026 – Today, the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is hosting its 10th annual ASC Connect conference, bringing together hundreds of market participants, business leaders and policy experts to explore Alberta’s economic future, the outlook for Canada’s energy sector and the rapid evolution of financial innovation. Under the theme, Alberta's capital market: where do we go from here?, ASC Connect will examine the opportunities and challenges shaping Alberta’s economy and capital market.

“This year’s conference brings together perspectives from business, government and regulators to examine how Alberta can remain competitive and create new opportunities for growth,” said Stan Magidson, Chair and CEO of the ASC and Chair of the Canadian Securities Administrators. “Over the past decade, ASC Connect has become an important forum for examining the issues shaping Alberta's capital market.”

This year's conference will also feature discussions on the implications of Alberta's Oct. 19 referendum for businesses, opportunities and challenges facing capital markets across Canada, and how regulators can balance investor protection, competitiveness, modernization and innovation.

Speakers include: the Honourable Jason Kenney, former federal cabinet minister and former Alberta premier; John McKenzie, CEO of TMX Group; Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce; and Eric Richmond, Country Director and CEO of Coinbase Canada, along with other leaders from industry, academia and the public sector.
