Investor Alert: ASC warns public about ThunderLight Entertainment

Dec 12, 2013

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is issuing an investor alert about ThunderLight Entertainment (ThunderLight).  ThunderLight appears to be engaging in activities that may pose a risk to investors.

The ASC has received information that ThunderLight has solicited Albertans to invest in ThunderLight securities, even though the Ontario-based company is not registered with the ASC to sell securities, is not a reporting issuer in Alberta and has not made any filings with the ASC.  The ASC urges investors to be cautious about this company.

The ASC also urges investors to familiarize themselves with some common red flags of investing and offers the Red Flags of Investing factsheet.  Before handing over their money, investors are encouraged to contact the ASC to ensure those selling a security are registered to do so, and if they have been previously sanctioned for securities violations. If you are still unsure about an investment opportunity, consult a registered financial adviser or obtain independent legal advice before making a decision.

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province’s securities laws.  It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and to protect investors.  As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada’s capital markets.
